Frequently asked questions.

What is involved in a session?

It is important to note that no two kinesiology sessions are the same.

Upon your arrival we will sit and go through your New Client Form (if it’s your first session). I will ask questions and clarify any further information as needed. This is also an opportunity for you to share any further information you may think might be relevant to the session, as well as ask any questions you may have.

If this is a follow up session we will discuss your progress since last appointment, whether the issue has healed, reduced, gotten worse etc. Again, this is an opportunity for you to share anything that may be relevant to the issue or the session, as well as ask any questions that may have arisen since your last appointment.

The kinesiology balance is then conducted on a massage table whereby you, the client, will lie on your back for the duration of the session (the massage table is able to be adjusted to a more seated position should you not be able to lie flat on your back).

Muscle monitoring is then used to find where and what kind of stress is within your being. The stress can be located at any level of your being – physical, mental, emotional, energetic or spiritual levels.
I will then use one, or a number of, specifically designed kinesiology balance protocols to help clear the stress and balance your being.

Other correction techniques may also be used within the session including acupoints, neurovascular points, emotional stress release points, chakras, sound therapy, light therapy, essential oils, colour therapy, crystals, bushflower essence etc.

We always let the body lead us to what it needs to balance itself.

At the end of the session, we will recap what stresses were found and cleared. We may also need to discuss lifestyle changes that may need to occur to assist with healing.

How many sessions will I need & how long between sessions?

This question is difficult to answer. As a practitioner I do not like to impose on you how many sessions I ‘think’ you will need. I feel this can influence you into believing that you cannot heal unless you have that many sessions.

I instead feel it is more important for each person to feel empowered to trust their own instincts on whether they need another session, and how long they wait between sessions. Again, each person is different.

Rather than put a number on the amount of sessions needed, or a timeframe between sessions, it is more important to focus on integrating, or coming to peace and understanding of what has arisen in your previous session. In addition, if you’ve been given certain techniques, bushflower essences, lifestyle changes to implement, that these be completed as a priority rather than just booking lots of sessions but not following through on the changes that need to be implemented. Because, let’s be honest, healing cannot be achieved by living the exact same way and doing the exact same thing that contributed to the issue in the first place.

It is important to note, and this is relevant for all modalities (not just kinesiology), to not expect a ‘quick fix’. Oftentimes our ailments have been with us for extended periods, and therefore are less likely to be healed in one session, and sometimes take numerous sessions before seeing results.

In saying that, it is also super important to have faith and believe in miracles, because honestly, anything can happen. It may in fact only take one session to heal your issue. Anything is possible.

I have found however that those clients that continue to have kinesiology sessions regularly, are those clients that see continued results, not just for the presenting issue, but across all areas of life.

Kinesiology is great as a preventative treatment by clearing any imbalances before they manifest into physical form.

Do I need to bring anything to a session?

I suggest wearing something comfortable for your session and depending on the weather and whether you feel the cold, a jumper/jacket and pair of socks. The body can get quite cold (even on warm days) when processing and clearing emotions and energy blockages. I also have blankets to keep you warm.

A drink bottle is also recommended in case you need hydrating prior, during or after your session.

Depending on what issue we will be addressing, you may want to bring supplements you are taking, or any particular foods you’d like tested for compatibility.

You also may wish to bring a journal to jot down any notes, thoughts or feelings that arise post session. I find it is really beneficial to do this so that you can reflect back on it as needed.

It is important to know that as soon as you cross the threshold to my clinic, that you are in a safe space. It is a space where you can share all your worries, triumphs, and feelings knowing that you will not be judged, only held in a cocoon of loving, compassionate energy.

I welcome, and strongly, strongly encourage that you do not hold back any emotions during your session. Should you feel tears welling up from within, allow them to overflow onto your face. Allow yourself to express verbally how you’re feeling.

Emotion = energy in motion. Emotions need to be acknowledged, felt and allowed to move through us. When we stop this flow, we supress this emotion within our body which then causes imbalances and illness. By allowing those tears to flow and those emotions to be expressed, you are helping to quicken the healing process.

Following the session, you may feel exhausted (which is the body processing), or you may feel totally rejuvenated. You may feel different but not be able to pinpoint exactly what it is that feels different. Please know that there is no right or wrong in how you should feel. Every person is different.

It is also really important to listen to your body post session. If you’re exhausted, rest as much as possible. Drink lots of water. You may be feeling really introverted after your session so take the time be in your own energy. Honour yourself and your needs without guilt. Again, this will help the healing and integration process.

What exactly is muscle monitoring?

Muscle monitoring is where the practitioner puts a small amount of pressure on a muscle and the client holds the muscle in place by using an equal amount of pressure.

The practitioner is then able to ascertain if there is stress through the following ways:

  • if the muscle unlocks (weakens/moves) and then strengthens again. This is classified as 1st stage stress

  • if the muscle locks but is unable to be unlocked. This is classified as 2nd stage stress

  • if the muscle unlocks and is unable to lock (strengthen) again. This is classified as 3rd stage stress.

The Brachialis muscle (a muscle in the upper arm that flexes the elbow) is used as the main indicator muscle for the session. Other muscles may also be tested throughout the session, however the Brachialis muscle is the main muscle used.

During your first session I will demonstrate how muscle monitoring works.

How long is a session?

An initial session is 90 minutes. Follow up sessions are either 90 minutes or 60 minutes depending on the circumstances. On occasion, these session times may run slightly longer.

How quick will I see results?

Again, each person is different, and is also dependent on the issue and how long you have been experiencing the issue.

Some clients experience results by the end of the session, others it takes multiple sessions. You should, at the very least, feel a sense of relaxation from your session.

Healing, in most cases, takes time. It is a process. Your body will only reveal as much as your mind, body and nervous system can handle at one time. Therefore, we work in ‘peeling the layers of the onion one by one’.

Healing also cannot be achieved by living the exact same way that created the issue.

To obtain the best possible results, you must be willing to incorporate, if needed, any relevant lifestyle changes to work alongside kinesiology to help achieve optimum results. Lifestyle changes may include, but are not limited, to the removal of any environmental or emotional stressors, the inclusion or removal of foods from your diet, different modalities of exercise/movement, mindfulness or breathing techniques, and the engagement of other health practitioners, if needed.

How will I feel during a session?

Every person is different in how they feel and what they experience
in a session. You may:

  • feel nothing or fall asleep

  • yawn  or burp lots

  • feel sensations through your body (warmth, cold, buzzing etc)

  • feel emotion & want to cry

  • make noises (grunting etc)

  • have your body wanting to move in weird ways

  • have memories resurface

  • see colours, images
